Scottsdale Village Square seeks to be a resource to the senior community by serving as a trusted advisor. Below are a list of several resource organizations and associations that provide useful information to equip seniors and their loved ones as they face new challenges associated with aging.

American Health Care Association (AHCA) – “The American Health Care Association is a non-profit federation of affiliate state health organizations, together representing more than 11,000 non-profit and for-profit nursing facility, assisted living, developmentally-disabled, and sub-acute care providers that care for approximately one million elderly and disabled individuals each day.” (from AHCA Website)

Arizona Health Care Association – Arizona’s state affiliate health organization of AHCA representing skilled nursing and assisted living facilities which account for over 15,000 seniors in the state of Arizona.

Assisted Living Federation of America – national association of state assisted living affiliates that seeks to establish high standards of care while also desiring to educate and advocate nationally for senior living communities.

AZ Assisted Living Federation of America – our state association which works with legislators and member communities to provide advocacy for assisted living communities in Arizona.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) – national organization serving the needs of those age 50 and older by providing advocacy and information concerning caregiving, employment, health care, as well as social security and Medicare.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) – the U.S. Government website providing resources for seniors and those with a disability concerning Medicare and Medicaid qualifications and options.

Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) – Arizona’s Medicaid agency that offers health care programs to serve Arizona residents. Individuals must meet certain income and other requirements to obtain services. (from AHCCCS website)

Scottsdale Senior Services – the City of Scottsdale’s website to provide, “an integrated system of services, resources and opportunities to help people improve their lives, neighborhoods and community through recreation, social services and health and wellness services.” (from ScottsdaleAZ.Gov) Information on area senior centers is also provided.

The Alzheimer’s Association – “works on a global, national and local level to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.” (from alz.org)

National Parkinson Foundation – national group “focused on meeting the needs in the care and treatment of people with Parkinson’s disease.” (from Parkinson.org)
